The cushion “Boreas and Oreithyia”<\/h1>\n

Boreas and Oreithyia\u00a0 is an example of one of de Morgan\u2019s works with literary subjects, this one being of an Ancient Greek myth. This particular myth was of the god of the north wind, Boreas, portrayed in the painting as the winged man, who kidnapped Oreithyia\u2013 the naked woman. Evelyn\u2019s portrayal of Boreas differs from typical depictions in the way she paints him as benevolent and gentle.<\/p>\n
